Compare Dog Dental Chews Side by Side

Last checked: By the DentalDogTreats editorial team Methodology

Short answer

This page lists every head-to-head comparison on the site. Each one sets Greenies Original against another dental chew and compares VOHC status, sizes, calories per chew and ingredients from published data. None names a single winner for every dog; each ends with scenarios, such as diet, dog size and calorie budget.

What we compare and how

Every comparison uses the same method. The inputs are the manufacturer's product page and the Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC) accepted list; values go into a table with the source named next to each row. We do not test products on dogs, and we do not use Amazon prices, ratings or reviews. When a manufacturer does not publish a value, the table says so instead of filling the gap from memory or from a similar product. The full procedure is on the methodology page.

Three checks come up in every pair. First, the VOHC claim: the Seal applies to the named product and to a named claim, plaque, tartar or both, so a brand name alone proves nothing.1 Second, calories per chew at the same dog weight, because the World Small Animal Veterinary Association advises keeping all treats under 10% of a dog's daily calories.2 Third, ingredients and minimum age, which decide whether a chew is an option at all for a dog with a wheat or chicken problem, or for a puppy.

All dental chew comparisons

Prices are not compared on any of these pages. To work out what a chew costs per day at a price you type in yourself, use the dental chew cost per day calculator; to see how much of your dog's daily calories a chew uses, use the dental chew calorie calculator.

When a comparison is not what you need

A pair answers "this or that". If you have not narrowed the field yet, start from a list: best dental chews compares the lines by dog size and calories, and the VOHC accepted dental chews page shows which products hold a Seal and for which claim. Pairs are added only where people search for them and where at least three numbers differ, so some combinations you might expect are missing.
